Summer in Vermont is all about getting out into the mountains, biking, hiking, swimming, climbing, jumping…you name it and the kids around here are getting out after it. The Kids Adventure Games taking place at Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe on July 26 promises to combine all that and more into a fun, competitive race course for kids ages 6-14.
The organizer, international adventure racer Billy Mattison, talks about building confidence, teamwork, and watching kids push and challenge themselves, but honestly the boys watched the promotional video and had two things to say: “that looks awesome!” and “we are going to own it!”
Living here in Stowe, we spend a lot of time all through the year biking ands skiing at Trapp’s and I can’t wait to see the race course. It’s one of the most inspiringly beautiful places in the world and the perfect place for Stowe’s first adventure race for kids. The features of the race are kept secret until race day, but previous courses have included tubing, biking, rappelling, climbing, ropes course, and slack lines. Most kids complete the course in a little over an hour.
Kids who may be a bit apprehensive can also sign up for a skills clinic the day before the race and/or check out these training tips online.
